The appeal of keto for athletes is simple. Even a lean person carries tens of thousands of calories of stored fat, far more than the limited glycogen the body can hold as carbohydrate. Teaching your body to run on that fat means a deeper, steadier fuel tank. The catch is that the switch is not instant.
