Privacy Policy

Effective Date: June 23, 2026  ·  Last Updated: September 8, 2026

Introduction

MeKeto (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates meketo.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information about you when you use our Site and services. By using MeKeto, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

Your email address, only if you give it: There is no account creation and no login anywhere on the Site, and nothing here is locked behind a signup. The one place we ask for personal information is the optional signup form on some calculator and guide pages. Submit it and we store the address you typed along with the page you submitted it from, as described in “Email Signups” below. We do not collect your name or any other contact details.

Calculator inputs (not stored): Data you enter into our calculators (such as age, weight, height, and activity level) is processed in your browser to compute your results. We do not save your calculator inputs to a profile or database.

Usage and device data: When you visit the Site, we and our analytics and advertising providers may collect standard usage information such as pages viewed, referring pages, approximate location (derived from your IP address), device and browser type, and interactions with the Site. Some of this is collected through cookies and similar technologies described below.

Email Signups

Nothing is sent today. MeKeto has no newsletter and no email provider connected to it. No message has been sent to anyone who has signed up, and the Site has no way to send one until a provider is configured. We say so on the form itself.

What we store: the email address you type (trimmed and lower-cased), the page you submitted it from, a short label for the tool on that page, the time of submission, and the randommeketo_sid session identifier described above. The session value is used to limit how many signups one browser can send in a few minutes, which keeps automated submissions down. Rows are held in our Postgres database, hosted by Neon in the United States.

Lawful basis: consent. You give it by typing your address and submitting the form, and the time of that submission is what we record as the consent. Nothing else on the Site asks for it, and declining costs you nothing: every calculator, guide, and food page works exactly the same either way.

Retention: we keep the address until you ask us to stop. Ask to be removed and we mark the record as unsubscribed and stop using it, which also stops a later signup from quietly putting the same address back. Ask for deletion instead and we delete the record outright. Either way, email privacy@meketo.com and say which you want.

We do not sell, rent, or share the list. If that ever changes, or if a provider is connected and messages begin going out, this section changes with it before the first message is sent.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

A cookie is a small file stored on your device. We and our providers use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for the categories below. Where required by law, non-essential cookies load only after you consent (see “Your Privacy Choices”).

  • Essential: Your theme preference (light or dark) and your cookie-consent choice are saved in your browser’s local storage. These stay on your device and are not sent to our servers. They are required for the Site to remember your basic preferences.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics 4 sets cookies (for example, identifiers beginning with “_ga”) to measure traffic and understand how the Site is used.
  • Outbound link clicks: If you click a product link on a calculator or food page, we record which link, which page, and a random session identifier stored in a first-party cookie namedmeketo_sid. It expires after 90 days, contains no personal information, and exists so repeat clicks from one visit are not counted as separate people.
  • Advertising: The Site serves no advertising today and sets no advertising cookies. If ad serving is turned on in future, Mediavine and its advertising partners may set cookies and use similar technologies to deliver, measure, and personalize advertising and content, as described below.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4), a measurement service provided by Google, to understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve our tools. GA4 sets cookies and may process information such as your IP address, device and browser details, and the pages you visit. This data helps us with aggregated reporting; we do not use it to identify you personally.

We use Google Consent Mode v2. For visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, analytics and advertising storage are denied by default and GA4 runs only after you give consent through our cookie banner. For visitors elsewhere, analytics is enabled by default and you can opt out as described below. You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. See Google’s Privacy Policy for more.

Advertising and Content (Mediavine)

The Site currently serves no advertising. The Mediavine Grow.me script is present in the codebase but switched off, so it does not load and sets nothing on your device. The rest of this section describes what would apply if it were switched on, and is kept here so the policy is complete.

With ad serving enabled, Mediavine and its advertising partners may set cookies and use similar technologies to serve and measure ads and content, including personalized advertising based on your activity over time and across sites. This may involve sharing certain data (such as cookie identifiers, IP address, and device information) with those partners.

For details on what Mediavine and its partners collect and how to exercise your choices, see the Mediavine Privacy Policy. In supported regions, Mediavine presents a consent management prompt where you can accept or refuse personalized advertising. You can also manage interest-based advertising through the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Your Online Choices (EU) opt-out tools.

Your Privacy Choices

Cookie banner (EEA and UK): Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom are shown a cookie banner with equal-weight Accept and Reject options before non-essential cookies load. Your choice is remembered in your browser for about six months, after which you are asked again. You can clear your browser storage at any time to be prompted again.

Other controls: You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings and use the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. If ad serving is ever enabled, the Mediavine consent prompt and the industry opt-out tools linked above become available too. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the Site work.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Operate, maintain, and secure the Site
  • Measure and analyze aggregated usage so we can improve our calculators and content
  • Count outbound clicks on product links so we know which suggestions are useful
  • Keep a list of people who asked to hear about new calculators and guides
  • Deliver and measure advertising and content through Mediavine, if and when ad serving is enabled
  • Comply with legal obligations

Third-Party Services

We work with the following third-party services to operate the Site. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Vercel - hosts the Site and provides privacy-friendly aggregate analytics.
  • Google Analytics 4 - measures Site usage, subject to consent in the EEA and UK as described above.
  • Neon - hosts the Postgres database that holds our food data, outbound-click counts, and any email address you have given us. Servers are in the United States.
  • Mediavine - not active. Its script is switched off and loads nothing. If enabled, it would provide advertising and content engagement and may share data with advertising partners for personalized advertising.
  • Web fonts - our fonts are self-hosted from our own domain at build time, so loading them does not send your IP address to a third-party font provider.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Note that under some U.S. state laws, the use of advertising cookies for personalized advertising can be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. No advertising cookies are set on this Site today; were that to change, you could opt out using the Mediavine consent prompt and the industry tools linked above.

Data Retention

The only personal contact information we hold is an email address you have chosen to give us, and we keep it until you ask us to stop, as described under “Email Signups”. Aggregated analytics data may be retained in accordance with our providers’ retention settings and policies. Cookies persist for the periods set by each provider or until you clear them.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information held about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your information and of personalized advertising
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority (if applicable in your jurisdiction)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@meketo.com. You can also use the cookie banner and the opt-out tools above to control analytics and advertising directly.

Children's Privacy

MeKeto is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including TLS encryption for all data in transit. However, no method of internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
