This is the guacamole I throw together when I want something savory in the afternoon. Ripe avocado gets mashed with a little tomato, onion, and garlic, then brightened with lime.
It has no dairy and no nuts, so it works as a snack for almost anyone. Scoop it with cucumber, celery, or pork rinds.
Ingredients
- 2 medium avocados
- 1/4 cup diced tomato
- 2 tbsp minced onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Juice of 1/2 lime
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- Chopped cilantro
- Hot sauce, optional
Instructions
- 1
Halve the avocados, scoop the flesh into a bowl, and mash to the texture you like.
- 2
Add the tomato, onion, and garlic and fold them through.
- 3
Squeeze in the lime, then season with salt and cumin.
- 4
Taste and adjust, adding cilantro or a few dashes of hot sauce if you want it.
- 5
Press plastic wrap onto the surface if you are not eating it right away, to slow browning.
Tips
- Leave one avocado a little chunky for texture instead of mashing everything smooth.
